Op-ed: Over 2,000 proposals aim to govern AI. Not a single one addresses a long-term regulatory framework
Despite the rapid advancements in AI technology, with over 2,000 proposals from states, Congress, and the private sector, none are aimed at establishing a comprehensive, future-focused regulatory framework. The proposals, which include more than 1,500 bills at the state level and hundreds from Congress, address current issues but fail to anticipate future challenges. The call for a national regulatory body, akin to the SEC's model, is urgent to ensure proper oversight and balance innovation with regulation, especially as the AI landscape evolves.
